Payment by SEPA bank transfer

What is a SEPA credit transfer?

The SEPA bank transfer is a secure payment method that has been standardised for the European Union. The abbreviation SEPA stands for “Single Euro Payments Area”.

SEPA credit transfer: How you benefit

  • Payment processing is fast and cashless
  • You initiate the transaction yourself
  • You can use a SEPA credit transfer in Germany and in other SEPA participating countries
  • There are no* or only low transaction costs for the SEPA credit transfer

*The prerequisite is that you have a bank account with a financial institution within the European Economic Area or the EU.

SEPA Credit Transfer: How does it work?

With a normal SEPA transfer, the process takes one bank working day; if you have ordered the payment using a paper transfer form, it may take two. This is because the day’s payment transactions are collected and bundled for transmission via the giro network.

After check-out, you will receive our bank details* for making your bank transfer

*IBAN and BIC: IBAN and BIC are used for SEPA credit transfers. The IBAN is the International Bank Account Number. In Germany, it consists of 22 digits and is made up of: a country code, a check digit, bank sort code and account number.

For transfers within Germany and the European Economic Area, you only need the IBAN of the payee. For payments to Monaco, Switzerland and San Marino, the BIC is also required. The BIC is the international bank code (Business Identifier Code).

Transfers at weekends and around public holidays

If you want a transfer to reach us in good time on a weekend or public holiday, please order it in good time.

Please note: Payments are not processed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. For example, a transfer ordered on Saturday will not be processed until Monday.

If SEPA transfers do take longer

If it does take longer, there are several possible reasons for this, for example:

  • You have made the transfer after the cut-off time
  • You have exceeded the daily limit for your transfers
  • You provide unclear or incorrect information on the form

Are there faster ways to transfer money?

With the so-called real-time transfer or SEPA Instant Payment, the money reaches us in a matter of seconds – 365 days a year. However, the prerequisite is that your bank offers this procedure.
